Touch Up Photos with One Click in Photoshop | Using Makeup Transfer | Tips

Makeup Transfer with Neural Filters

This short tip shows Photoshop’s Makeup Transfer neural filter, which copies the makeup style from a reference portrait onto another photo. It is useful for quick retouching previews and for trying looks before doing them by hand.

Steps

  1. Open the portrait with minimal makeup and go to Filter > Neural Filters.
  2. Turn on Makeup Transfer.
  3. Choose a reference image: either a file from your computer or another open document.
  4. Photoshop applies the reference makeup to your portrait. Try a few references; in the video the first worked best, the second changed the whole style, and the third did not map the eye area well.
  5. Click OK. The result lands on a new layer so you can compare with the original and retouch further.

Notes

At the time of recording the filter was in beta and results could look artificial with some references. Pick references with similar lighting and head angle for the most natural result.
