Landscape Scenery in Vector
This speed art video shows a full landscape scene being drawn in Adobe Illustrator. Most of the work is done with the Pen Tool, and a few filters are used at the end to soften the flat vector shapes so the finished piece looks more like a painting.
The artwork
A calm lake reflects a range of layered green mountains under a bright sky with scattered clouds. Palm trees line the far shore, and a dark green tree with heavy foliage frames the left side of the picture. The mountains fade from deep green in front to a soft, hazy green behind, and the water carries a mirror of the whole scene. The palette stays within greens, blues and a touch of warm light.
What to look for
The atmospheric depth comes from lightening each layer of mountains as they go back. The reflection is the same artwork flipped and softened. If you draw landscapes in vector, this is a good example of using very few colours but many tonal steps.
