Concept Car Vector Illustration
This speed art video follows the drawing of a concept sports car in Adobe Illustrator, shown from the front in a slightly raised three-quarter view. The design is not based on a current model. It borrows the low, wide proportions and rounded headlamps of sports coupes from the 2000s and early 2010s, which gives it a familiar but original look.
The artwork
The finished car is a deep metallic blue with a glossy body, lighter highlights along the bonnet and roof, and a darker shade under the bumper. The wide front grille, side mirrors and windscreen are drawn in flat vector shapes, and the car sits on a plain yellow background that makes the blue stand out. Reflections on the windscreen and the curved highlight across the bonnet are what sell the glossy paint.
Watching the process
The video runs at speed, so the value is in seeing the order of work: the body is blocked out first as large shapes, the panel lines and details such as lamps, grille and mirrors are added next, and shading and highlights come last. If you want to draw vehicles in vector, notice how symmetry is used for the front view and how few gradients are needed once the flat shading is in place.
This is a speed art video, not a step-by-step tutorial. It is meant to show the process and give you ideas. For guided lessons, see the step-by-step tutorials linked below.
