Converting Kid’s Drawing in to Reality | Speed Painting in Adobe Photoshop

Kid’s Drawing to Reality, Episode 2

The second episode of the series turns another child’s drawing into a painted creature in Adobe Photoshop. As with the others it is a speed painting shown as a process video.

The artwork

A child’s drawing of a purple and blue creature with big eyes and antennae becomes a colourful painted alien-fish character with feathery fins, glossy eyes and soft shading. The odd, imaginative shapes of the original are kept and given texture, depth and light.

What to look for

Watch how the strange proportions from the kid’s sketch are treated as a design to honour rather than fix, and how painted highlights and shadows make a fantastical creature feel solid and real.

This is a speed art video, not a step-by-step tutorial. It shows the process to inspire and give ideas. For guided lessons, see the step-by-step tutorials linked below.
