Converting Kid’s Drawing in to Reality | Speed Painting in Adobe Photoshop

Kid’s Drawing to Reality, Episode 4

The fourth episode of the series turns a child’s small dragon or lizard sketch into a painted creature in Adobe Photoshop, again as a speed painting.

The artwork

A child’s pencil sketch of a little winged creature becomes a soft, furry winged animal resting on a branch, with big eyes, delicate wings and a warm, blurred background. The original’s pose and personality are kept while fur, feathers and lighting are painted on.

What to look for

Notice how the warm bokeh background and the rim light on the fur lift the creature off the page, and how the childlike face is preserved so the finished painting still feels like the original drawing brought to life.

This is a speed art video, not a step-by-step tutorial. It shows the process to inspire and give ideas. For guided lessons, see the step-by-step tutorials linked below.
