Milk Splash Drawing in Adobe Illustrator | Speed Art

Milk Splash in Vector

This speed art video shows a milk splash drawn entirely with the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator. It is a good example of making a liquid, dynamic subject look natural in flat vector.

The artwork

A glass tips and pours, and the milk arcs out and splashes up into a crown of droplets. It is drawn in whites and soft blue-greys on a light background, with gradients and a little blur giving the milk its rounded, three-dimensional feel and the droplets their shine.

What to look for

The whole splash is Pen Tool shapes; the gradients and blur are what turn hard vector edges into soft, believable liquid. Watch how the highlights on the droplets and the rim of the glass make the milk look wet.

This is a speed art video, not a step-by-step tutorial. It shows the process to inspire and give ideas. For guided lessons, see the step-by-step tutorials linked below.
