Sprits of the Sea: Fantasy Vector Art

This speed art video shows a fantasy mermaid artwork, “Sprits of the Sea”, drawn as vector art in Adobe Illustrator. It was originally created as an NFT, and the whole process was recorded as proof of originality. The style suits posters, home decor, wall art and animation design.

The artwork

Mermaid-like figures with long teal hair ride a curling turquoise wave under a pink and orange sky, with fish and spray around them. The colours are bold and saturated, and the whole piece is drawn with the Pen Tool using gradients and Rough Blur filters to give the water and figures a painterly, flowing look.

What to look for

Notice how the single big wave shape drives the composition and how the gradients and blur soften the vector edges into moving water. It is a good example of pushing flat vector towards a rich, illustrative fantasy style.

This is a speed art video, not a step-by-step tutorial. It shows the process to inspire and give ideas. For guided lessons, see the step-by-step tutorials linked below.
